For the past 30 years, the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study has served as an automotive industry benchmark study that consumers can rely on. The study measures the design and any defect problems found in the newest vehicles by surveying owners and lessees who have driven the vehicles for at least 90 days. The survey conducted by J.D. Power asks the owners about what has gone right or wrong with the vehicles, compiles their responses and ranks vehicles based on those answers.
